A company’s culture is the environment created by the priorities it sets. Sometimes those priorities are made explicit: in a company’s formal mission statement, for example, or in the structure of the organisation and the power given to different departments and functions. Sometimes they are implicit: what the Financial Times once called “the large number of unspoken assumptions and beliefs which managers in the organisation share about ‘the way we do things around here’”.

Swine Flu Upsets Rituals of Greeting - Article
As the world braces for a second wave of the swine flu that broke out in the spring and resulted in the deaths of more than 2,100 people worldwide, the disease is altering long-established patterns of everyday greeting. Handshakes have been cut short, kisses aborted. Warm embraces have been supplanted by curt pats on the back.

Senior ECO-Consultant (GreenSquad), Waste Management, Newark, NJ
Environmentally motivated, customer service driven individual wanted to perform Green Squad Environmental Assessments. These assessments consist of sustainability evaluation of green building and deconstruction practices, carbon impact analysis, supply chain procurement, waste, electricity and water efficient resource utilization at customer locations. Upon performing assessments, generates reports indicating overall sustainability baseline, along with a plan and a group of solutions for potential improvements. Required: Associates Degree in Environmental Sciences, Accounting or Business and five or more years experience with responsibility in project/business management. One year of experience in a supervisory level position. Environmental or services industry experience is required. Bachelors in Business Administration (or Master’s in industry related field) may substitute for three years of experience at the discretion of the hiring manager. Certified Energy Manager (CEM) is preferred. LEED AP is preferred. This position is also available in Trenton, NJ.

Manager, Environmental Health and Safety, Cardinal Health, Atlanta or Dallas
Duties include: Demonstrates depth and breadth of knowledge of quality assurance systems and approaches. May lead teams or projects and shares expertise. Interprets regulations and standards. Develops compliance strategies while balancing appropriate risk. Applies quality system skill sets to improve quality assurance outcomes. Addresses complex problems and non-standard solutions. Responsible for cost-effective quality assurance systems and strategies. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in technical discipline or equivalent experience. (CSP) or (CIH) certification preferred. 5 years direct EH&S experience managing multiple facilities. Knowledge of Federal and State OSHA and EPA, EH&S management systems and workers' compensation requirements. Must be able to clearly and succinctly communicate, market and sell practical EH&S solutions to all levels of regional and facility personnel.

Vice President of Group SHE Services, Balfour Beatty Construction, Dallas, TX
Designs, develops, and implements initiatives and processes as part of a company-wide comprehensive Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) program. This includes developing a strategy and monitoring the effective execution of various safety engineering, safety awareness, accident investigation, and environmental compliance activities across the decentralized BBC divisions, all as part of creating a safety culture throughout the organization. A significant part of the job also includes coordinating activities with other departments and outside agencies, and tracking/measuring the effectiveness of programs over time. Requires a Bachelor’s degree in safety engineering, or closely related field, and 15+ years of SHE related experience within the construction (or related) industry; 5+ years of broad, cross-divisional management experience. Certified Safety Professional or Certified Risk Manager.

Senior Knowledge Leader, Environmental Sustainability, LRN, New York, NY
The Senior Knowledge Leader, Environmental Sustainability is integral to LRN's drive to pioneer, communicate and integrate knowledge in the areas of environmental responsibility and sustainability. This role will develop key insights to help create solutions for LRN's partners' board of directors, senior leadership, compliance and ethics function, functional management and workforces. The Senior Knowledge Leader, Environmental Sustainability will help integrate knowledge in this area across the strategic elements of the LRN Knowledge Architecture. Requires business experience of 15 years or more, of which 5 or more years in leadership roles within Environmental Affairs is required along with a JD, MBA or PH.D.

Environmental Manager, Wood Group Power Operations, Inc., Atlanta, GA
Responsible for implementation and on-going support of environmental plans, policies, procedures, and compliance programs at Wood Group Power Operations’ (WGPO) operated electric power generation facilities. Candidate should be able to support WGPO’s management team with strategic EHS planning and program development to further improve the company’s environmental performance. Also responsible for managing and executing external environmental consulting projects. This position reports to the Director of Compliance for WGPO. Requires a four-year degree or commensurate experience/professional training is required as well as a demonstrated track record in developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental policies and procedures in an industrial setting. Minimum of 10 years relevant experience is required for this position.
