GRI launches transparency database on over 3,000 companies - Article
A wealth of sustainability data, hard to find in thousands of reports, will now be unlocked in a new database launched by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). The new Sustainability Disclosure Database includes data on the sustainability and environmental, social and governance transparency of more than 3,000 thousand companies worldwide.

Thanksgiving may be the holiday from hell for nutritionists, and it produces plenty of war stories for psychiatrists dealing with drunken family meltdowns. But it has recently become the favorite feast of psychologists studying the consequences of giving thanks. The nation's first national standard on water reuse was announced with the intent to improve awareness and acceptance of gray water and other reuse technologies. It's taken a long time to catch on, but with rising energy costs and increasing concerns about water scarcity, it's time has come. There's plenty of gray water around, and many uses, too. 84% of water is used for purposes other than drinking, and most can be reused.

Director of Environmental Operations and Safety, Aerojet Corp., Camden, Ark.
This position will be responsible for both Environmental Operations and Safety areas equally. The Director will report directly to the Executive Director of Operations at the facility. S/he will be expected to provide technical direction and leadership on environmental and safety issues and requirements and represent the organization as prime internal contact for regulatory agencies and customers on environmental and safety operations. S/he will also be expected to conduct briefings and technical meetings for top management, customers and/or regulatory agency representatives. This position requires a Bachelor's degree and fourteen years directly related experience in an appropriate discipline/science or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's degree in a related field is preferred.

Environmental, Health and Safety EHS Communications Manager, Alcoa Inc., Pittsburg, Penn.
Alcoa is looking for a Manager of Environmental Health and Safety Communications at the Alcoa Corporate Center in Pittsburgh, PA on the North Shore. The position will report to the Director, EHS and Sustainability. The primary purpose of the position is to develop and implement a robust and effective communication program to support the Global Wellness Initiative. Other duties include improving communication across the EHS and Sustainability(EHSS) function in all plants and global business units by identifying, developing and working with field communicators and sharing tools and techniques and ensuring that Alcoa has ready protocols to deal effectively with EHSS-related special issues and crises. Basic Qualifications include a Bachelor degree in Communications/ Public Relations, with a minimum 10 years of experience in communications, relevant experience in the areas of health care, employee wellness campaigns and employee benefits.
