Under fire, EPA withdraws Cadmium rule - Article
The EPA has withdrawn a controversial rule governing the reporting of cadmium and cadmium compounds, admitting the regulation had caused serious confusion and uncertainty. The EPA said that since the final rule's issuance, it received a number of letters raising concerns about the regulation's extent. The agency said it believes some of the points raised warrant the EPA's consideration.

Global Safety Manager, General Mills Inc., Minneapolis, MN
General Mills is seeking a Global Safety Manager in Minneapolis who will be responsible for the effective development of standards, programs, and processes in assigned area of expertise. This role will be the Technical Expert for General Mills Global Safety and Regulatory Compliance and OSHA Safety Compliance while developing safety compliance standards and management systems that align and/or improve existing Safety systems. Some of the responsibilities of this position include clearing priorities for injury reduction and compliance, identifying injury reduction opportunities, management systems, and best practices, benchmarking with outside companies on Safety compliance and improvements. A BS is required (preferred degree in Supply Chain/Operations Management, EHS, Occupational Safety, Engineering or Science) along with 7-10 years of experience in Safety related field. CSP preferred. Senior Health, Safety & Environment Specialist, Energy XXI, Houston, TX
Energy XXI is an independent oil and natural gas exploration and production company whose growth strategy emphasizes acquisitions, enhanced by its value-added organic drilling program. They are currently looking to fill the position of Senior Health, Safety & Environment Specialist in our office in Houston, Texas. This role will support the offshore and inland Gulf of Mexico exploration and production operations and will report to the Director, Health, Safety and Environment. S/he will be responsible for accurate and timely filings of plans, procedures and permit applications required for oil and gas exploration and production. Some responsibilities include planning and managing the HSE compliance function in accordance with established company business plans, maintaining expert knowledge of specific requirements imposed by government agencies through extensive reading of the statutes, regulations, licenses and permits; consultation with peers in other companies; and consulting with engineers and field personnel. Other functions include HSE operational field inspections, Subpart “O” compliance, coordination of HSE field operations training, active participation in required emergency preparedness drills and providing Safety & Environmental Management System leadership. Requirements include a B.S. degree in HSE or a related discipline with a minimum of 10 years of experience; or H.S. diploma/Associate Degree/ technical training along with a minimum of 15 years progressive experience in either safety, environmental or regulatory, Extensive knowledge of BSEE, LDEQ, EPA, USCG, and COE regulations and practices is required. Professional certifications desired.

Division Environmental Manager, Georgia-Pacific Chemicals LLC, Atlanta, GA.
Georgia-Pacific is looking for an EHS Manager. The ideal candidate will provide leadership/management of the Division's environmental programs, including review and development of policies/procedures as needed and provide both leadership and direct support to chemical facilities to implement and improve environmental programs to achieve 100% compliance. Some responsibilities include maintaining a strong working knowledge of all environmental requirements for both the divisional and facility compliance programs, developing and maintaining chemical division subject matter expertise in regulatory areas, as assigned, and act at the primary owner of those compliance programs for the chemical division. S/he will also maintain, review and update divisional management systems, policies, procedures and tools, support facility participation in environmental excellence programs and serve in the company's audit program. Basic Qualifications include a BS in a technical field (preferably in Engineering), 5 years minimum multi-disciplined environmental experience, experience in developing and using management systems and transforming regulatory requirements into optimal plant practices. Preferred to have knowledge of working in Waste, Hazardous Waste, Water, and Storm Water compliance.

Corporate Environmental Consultant, Target Corp., Minneapolis, MN
Target is looking for an environmental consultant. The ideal candidate will provide environmental compliance guidance for Target and its subsidiaries by utilizing his or her expertise in RCRA and other environmental regulations. The Environmental Consultant will identify trends and key developments in environmental regulatory issues and helps determine their impact on Target. He/she will also develop and maintain strong working relationships and an understanding of relevant business processes that are affected by environmental compliance issues. The Environmental Consultant will manage and direct responses to regulatory inspections and other enforcement activities. Some responsibilities include developing and enhancing enterprise-wide hazardous waste compliance programs and other environmental compliance programs, managing and directing responses to regulatory inspections and other enforcement activities. Requirements include a BA/BS college degree, preferably in Engineering or Law, minimum 10 years relevant experience with a history of environmental compliance within a heavily regulated industry, expert on the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and other hazardous waste compliance requirements.
