HP in drive to help car manufacturers reduce waste - Article
Hewlett-Packard is getting involved in a shared service to help 34 of the world's leading car manufacturers wipe out harmful substances from the automotive sector supply chain, as the technology giant is set to host the International Material Data System (IMDS) for the next five years. The aim is to help prevent the use of heavy metals such as cadmium, lead and mercury, as well as making sure that reportable substances are declared for recycling.

Steven Chu steps down as US energy secretary - Article
The Nobel laureate Steven Chu has announced he is to resign as US energy secretary. In a letter to DOE staff, Chu noted his successes in office, such as funding the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E). Yet Chu also became a controversial figure, facing heavy criticism from Republicans, deniers of climate change and some members of the business community. Critics focused on occasional failures of Chu's initiatives, such as Solyndra.

First down! Super Bowl power outage sheds light on smart grid - Article
This high-profile "oops" hints at a bigger problem across America's electrical grid. Much of the equipment is old and wasn't designed for the way it's used today. Smart grid management was key to the success of the 2011 Orange Bowl, where a Department of Energy project turned an overloading transformer into a non-issue. The government-backed solution wouldn't work everywhere, so energy managers will likely turn increasingly toward private sector innovations to help them circumvent another blackout.

While these areas are preferred, consideration will be given to all candidates based on abilities and experience. Responsibilities for this position include assisting clients with full EHS implementation of all products in the Dakota Proactivity Suite, developing profiles, build tasks, develop audit protocols, performing third party audits and reporting, and providing regulatory assistance as required. Comprehensive knowledge of EHS regulations with demonstrated ability to implement tactical EHS compliance systems at operational sites is required. Bachelor’s Degree is a must, advanced degree preferred. 8-12 years of onsite EHS work experience. End user experience with Dakota Proactivity Suite applications is a plus.

This position is responsible for providing industrial hygiene and occupational health support to all Company locations. Health, Safety & Environmental Senior Manager, Dresser-Rand Corp., Houston, TX
Dresser-Rand is looking for a Senior EHS Manager. This manager will implement and manage HS&E policies, plans, procedures and processes to ensure the effective management of hazard identification, assessment of risk and implementation of controls. Some position responsibilities and duties developing, implementing and managing HS&E policies, plans, procedures and processes to ensure the effective management of hazard identification, assessment of risk and implementation of controls, conducting HSE-related compliance audits, inspections, and assessments of company and client job sites and workplaces across the business and ensure that the region is compliant with HSE-related regulatory affairs, company standards, and client requirements, assisting and coaching supervisors with performing root cause analysis of HSE incidents, assist in case management of reported injuries and in the development of effective corrective actions. Required qualifications include a BA in Occupational Safety & Health required, a minimum of 5 years relevant experience within a field service/engineering and machine shop environment and refinery/chemical plant environment, demonstration knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and its implementation. Preferred qualifications include a Masters and CSP, ASP or other recognized safety certification.

Regional Director EHS Americas, CP Kelco, a JM Huber Co., Atlanta, Georgia
CPKelco, a J. M. Huber company and a leading manufacturer global producer of specialty ingredients used in food, pharmaceutical and consumer products, has an immediate opening for a Regional Director EHS Americas. Some responsibilities with this position include developing and managing EHS strategy for the three CP Kelco America sites, which includes the communicating and facilitating Corporate Environmental, Health and Safety policy and goals, ensuring that all CP Kelco America manufacturing sites have environmental, health and safety management systems which strive to achieve and maintain the environmental, health and safety strategy, world class safety performance, environmental excellence (compliance, risk and change management) and continual improvement. The role also involves alignment, coordination and management of the Environmental, Health and Safety Programs with CP Kelco corporate and JM Huber including working closely with the Line of business or regional PSM engineers and participates on the EH&S Leadership Team. Requirements include a B.S. degree required preferably in Engineering, Environmental Engineer, Safety Engineer or related fields, a minimum of 8-10years of experience in a manufacturing company as an EHS professional, post graduate EHS qualifications desirable, certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, experience in EHS auditing desirable.

North and East Regional EHS Manager, Ingersoll Rand Co., Nationwide
Ingersoll Rand is looking for EHS Managers. This position will be responsible for leading 19 Customer Centers in North America in EHS (Environmental, Health and Safety) strategy, procedure/programs and campaigns directed at moving towards continuous improvement in World Class Environmental, Safety and Health for the ITS Sales/Service Customer Center and Engineered Products organization. The position may be located in any of the following cities: Chicago, Cincinnati, Omaha, Detroit, Goshen, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, London, Toronto, Calgary, Baltimore, Boston, Buffalo, Edison, Philadelphia, Richmond, Syracuse, or York. The work activity for this position will include, but not limited to the following: Implementing all aspects of Ingersoll Rand’s EHS Management System, driving behavioral-based culture practices by closely working with leaders and employees to find and resolve risks, analyzing systemic incident causes and assist in developing and implementing corrective actions, inspecting organization facilities to detect existing or potential safety, health, and/or environmental hazards, determine corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follow-up to ensure measures have been implemented. Requirements include a Bachelors Degree in industrial safety, safety sciences, safety engineering, environmental science/engineering or related degree with at least 5 years of increasing EHS responsibilities required. Knowledge of Federal and State OSHA and EPA regulations required. One or more safety-related professional certifications desired (i.e. CIH or CSP).
