Global retailers join safety plan for Bangladesh - Article
Under mounting pressure to improve working conditions in Bangladesh's garment factories, several of the world's largest apparel companies agreed to a landmark plan to help pay for fire safety and building improvements after the collapse last month of the Rana Plaza factory complex, which killed more than 1,100 people. The agreement, hailed by labor and consumer groups as a major breakthrough, was signed by H&M, Inditex, C&A,Primark and Tesco.

DuPont, Honeywell, Dow and BASF commit to increased product safety standards - Article
BASF, DuPont, Honeywell, Dow and others members of the American Chemistry Council (ACC) this week launched a new Responsible Care Product Safety Code to increase chemical safety standards beyond regulatory requirements. The members are required to report EHS performance data publicly online.

ISO 14001 revision prompts greater focus on environmental compliance - Article
The revision to the International Standards Organization's (ISO) 14001 environmental management system standard likely will result in a higher demand for regulatory compliance services as the revision reflects a move toward integrating a more proactive approach to legal compliance. Companies may need to refocus the regulatory compliance part of their ISO 14001 management system to ensure they meet the new approach of the standard. The revision is due to be published in 2015.

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for working closely with stakeholders to drive a Zero Incident Safety Culture, by developing and deploying a strategy that ensures a culture of Environmental Health and Safety compliance and continuous improvement for all remote locations in Canada. Some responsibilities include providing guidance and leadership to drive a Zero Incident Culture while ensuring compliance to all applicable health and safety legislation and providing leadership and maintenance of Eaton's Management system for environment, health, safety and security (MESH). The ideal candidate is expected to perform all job functions with adherence to Eaton's Philosophy and Values, Code of Ethics as well as Safety and Environmental standards & commitment to safety and cost improvement. Veyance Technologies, Inc. (formerly Goodyear Engineered Products) is a $2B global business that markets, manufactures and distributes a variety of rubber products including hose, conveyor belts, power transmission belts and other products to a variety of customers across the industrial, military, OE, and automotive aftermarket channels. The Environmental Health & Safety Manager is responsible for developing and managing environmental, health and safety (EH&S) programs in the Conveyor Services Division.  S/he will also be responsible for ensuring  that an EH&S strategic plan is in place that supports the business and reduces injuries, illnesses, the impact on the environment, and overall EH&S liability for the various branches and the Division.  S/he will be asked to be accountable for achieving desired performance results with respect to EH&S metrics including, but not limited to, incident rates, workers' compensation cost reduction, and environmental liability reduction. Principle duties & responsibilities include the following areas designing, developing, implementing and maintaining environmental, health and safety systems to ensure compliance and social responsibility for the division and ensuring that all processes, materials, and products are in compliance with governmental and corporate regulations and requirements to minimize plant liability with respect to EH&S issues. Other duties will be tasked as required. A Baccalaureate degree in environmental sciences, occupational safety and health, engineering or related science is required but a Master Degree in environmental sciences, or occupational safety and health or an MBA is desired. 5 years of combined environmental, safety and health experience or EHS educational study but MHSA Certification and 3 plus years of mine safety experience is preferred. Experience in a service / manufacturing environment is required. Certification in environmental, health, and safety management, ISO 14001., Hazwopper, RCRA, DOT, and Asbestos desired.

Director of Environmental, Health & Safety, Suffolk University, Boston, MA
Suffolk University is looking for an EHS Director. The EHS Director is responsible for establishing, implementing and administering a comprehensive environmental, health and safety (EHS) program, which ensures that the University is in compliance with federal, state and local regulations. A BS/BA degree in a science or engineering field such as, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene or related field is required along with 5-7 years of experience in an EHS position. Prior experience supervising staff and knowledge of applicable OSHA, DEP, EPA, NFPA and MWRA regulations is preferred. Experience with hazardous waste codes and manifest requirements a plus.

Director Supply Chain Corporate Responsibility, Motorola Mobility (a Google company), Sunnyvale, CA or Greater Chicago Area
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a key aspect of Motorola Mobility's relationship with our suppliers as well as being central to our own operations.  Accordingly, we review supplier conduct and assess the risks and opportunities related to CSR through our supply chain CSR Program.  The Program includes on-going monitoring and evaluation of supplier CSR performance through a variety of assessment activities.  In addition, we work with our suppliers and external stakeholders to build CSR capabilities though training and other forms of engagement. The ideal candidate is expected to deliver the overall vision, strategy, and governance of the supply chain CSR program, direct and lead the supply chain CSR team (staff, budgets, engagement with suppliers, etc.) S/he will also plan, execute, and drive the performance of the supply chain CSR Program in support of identified business objectives and expected key results and report on supply chain CSR performance to Motorola Mobility's senior leadership team. Bachelor's degree in a core subject related to CSR, international development, business, engineering, operations, environmental studies or a related field is required but Master's degree or MBA preferred. At least 10 years of supply chain CSR experience with at least 8 years of experience in a management position is required.  Related supply chain and manufacturing experience is a plus. Relevant labor and human rights, ethics, and EHS training and certification a plus.
