New EPA chief will take on sweeping climate agenda
Gina McCarthy will have no time to ease into her role. She's charged with sweeping crackdowns on pollution from power plants, an expansion of GHG regulations, and steps to stem the increasingly controversial water pollution problems caused by coal and minerals mining. Brazil's 'dirty list' names companies involved in slave labor
Brazil has created the "dirty list", which publicly names almost 300 companies, from major brands to small enterprises, who have been found to be profiting from slave labor. While on it, they can't obtain credit from government and private banks and are boycotted by those who have signed on to a national pact. Senate Confirms Thomas Perez as Secretary of Labor
Perez, who was confirmed on July 18, has been called a "consensus builder" by President Obama. Perez comes from the Department of Justice, where he headed DOJ's Civil Rights Division. Prior to joining DOJ, Perez served as secretary for Maryland's Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation, where he helped implement the country's first statewide living-wage law. Read more...

Essential responsibilities include providing input to site management on various EHS issues, initiating and influencing integration of EHS policies and practices into the business, implementing/modifying EHS programs and procedures to ensure company compliance and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements. Qualifications/Requirements include a BS in a relevant field and a minimum of 3 years of experience with exposure to several EHS areas in a manufacturing environment.

Beckman Production Services, Inc. is a well servicing company that operates completion and workover rigs, swabbing units, hot oilers, high pressure pump trucks, anchor setting trucks, wireline units, vacuum trucks, crude oil trucks and tankers licensed to haul non-hazardous liquid waste and crude oil. They are looking for a Corporate EHS Manager. This position's primary functions are to develop corporate safety programs and objectives and coordinate safety training programs, provide technical safety support to operations and corporate personnel, compile, evaluate, and report statistics relating to safety performance, monitor safety regulations and provide technical support to ensure compliance with Federal and State safety regulations. Other essential duties and responsibilities include preparing written safety programs and policies that are relevant to the company's business environments and identifying company safety training needs and develop and coordinate safety training programs. Qualifications and requirements include a preference for a CSP, experience with delivering safety services to at least a 150 employee base population, knowledge and practical experience of OSHA, EPA, DOT and safety standards and regulations. Trucking industry (or other industry with a substantial trucking fleet) experience is preferred.

They are looking for an EHS Team leader who job purpose is to provide technical support and coordination of EH&S activities. This position will also responsible for all EH&S compliance, programs and responsibilities. Essential duties include providing leadership and technical guidance on all phases of a comprehensive Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Quality program for the facilities, ensuring compliance with all applicable environmental and safety regulations and corporate policies and procedures and developing and completing training as required for all personnel in the area of environmental and safety requirements. Requirements include a BS in related field (MA preferred), 3-5 years' experience working in a unionized facility preferred, at least 2-3 years supervisor/managerial experience preferred, a minimum of 5 years of health, safety and environmental professional experience required, and experience in ISO & OHSAs 18001, ISO9001 systems.
