Packaging Corporation of America is currently searching for an Environmental Health and Safety Regional Manager-West. This is an individual contributor role that will provide focused leadership, mentoring, program management, and expert technical assistance to facility based health and safety personnel and other regional EHS Managers. The goal is to drive an employee safety cultural attitude of zero accidents, reduce business risks, protect fixed assets, and reduce workers' compensation costs. This position will be accountable for: coordinating all safety initiatives and solutions in the corrugated plants to reduce the number of injuries and illnesses; ensuring that each of the corrugated plants develops and maintain an effective workers' compensation management process to reduce costs associated with injuries and illnesses; assists in the coordination of risk management activities within the corrugated packaging plants; coordinating all EHS Leadership training for the Corrugated Group. A Bachelor's degree in industrial safety, occupational health, hygiene, public health, engineering, or life science is required along with 7 years' work experience managing environmental and occupational safety and health issues within a manufacturing environment. Advanced degree in Occupational Safety & Health is desirable but does not replace requirement for practical experience Additional Certificate/License: Board Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is a plus. (e.g., Certified Hazardous Materials Manager CHMM, first aid and CPR, are added value).

The Senior EHS Consultant will be working with our pharmaceutical, biotech and potentially other clients who are on the leading edge of EHS and tackling new challenges each day, those challenges may include designing developing and implementing strategic and tactical written EHS programs and procedures specific to the Life Science industry to include EHS and Product Safety programs and specific procedures, Injury and Illness Prevention, Emergency Action Plan and Ergonomics. Requirements include a BS in Chemistry, biology or related field , Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or CSP Eligible by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) is desirable.

The ideal candidate will assist with leadership of the Global HSE & BC organization of NIBR in the development of leading health, safety, and environmental management systems, business continuity and emergency management programs to drive continuous improvement of HSE & BC performance and provide recognized value supporting scientific research activities. S/he will provide technical expertise and guidance on HSE & BC matters to NIBR senior scientific leadership and line management; provide technical support and coaching/mentoring to the NIBR sites; liaise between the NIBR sites and Novartis Corporate HSE & BC; drive continuous improvement of NIBR's division-wide HSE & BC performance; and, align between Novartis divisions as appropriate. A college/university degree in safety management, industrial hygiene, environmental management/science, occupational health and/or medicine, engineering, or related field is required. An advanced degree is preferred. Minimum of 7 to 10 years of professional experience in HSE & BC.
