SEC's Gallagher Rails on Third-Party Rule Makers
Third parties trying to set disclosure standards for public company financial reports are ruffling some feathers at the Securities and Exchange Commission. SEC Commissioner Daniel Gallagher recently singled out the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board as a group not authorized by the SEC to tell companies what they should disclose in their financial statements, even though SASB issues standards that it says tell companies what they should disclose related to various sustainability topics. Lloyd's calls on insurers to take into account climate-change risk
Lloyd's of London, the world's oldest and biggest insurance market, has for the first time called on insurers to incorporate climate change into their models. Lloyd's says damage and weather-related losses around the world have increased from an annual average of $50bn in the 1980s to close to $200bn over the last 10 years. Read more....

This position will be responsible for providing the leadership required to develop, improve, maintain, and coordinate a global environmental and employee health and safety program. The ultimate objectives of this position are to protect the global environment where Whirlpool operates, protect our global workforce, lead the global EHS community in identifying process improvements to metrics collection and analysis, global auditing, internal/external communications, training employees globally, minimizing global costs, assuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, as well as relevant company policies. Qualifications include a Bachelor's in environmental engineering/safety or related field (MBA preferred). A Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience, including exposure to a variety of industrial and global, multi-national settings (5 years of corporate experience preferred). Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred.
