China will waive a 10 percent purchase tax on electric cars as part of expanded measures to combat pollution and cut energy dependence. The role will report to National Grid USA's COO and will lead an organization of approximately 100 direct and dotted line reports. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of current EH&S practices, policies and regulatory requirements and strong knowledge of behavioral based safety strategy and tactics. Candidate must hold a bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) with eight to ten years of multisite relevant experience. Strong preference given to candidates with a Bachelor's degree (Master's Degree preferred) in Environmental Engineering or related field such as Chemical Engineering or Environmental Science. An advanced health & safety certification (CSP) or advanced degree is highly desirable.

The ideal candidate will play a key role by working collaboratively with EHS&PR staff and Operations representatives to support environmental performance and compliance at 27 facilities worldwide. You will also be responsible to ensure that environmental programs, procedures, training, work practices and controls are effectively developed, communicated and implemented within your assigned business unit. You will be asked to provide technical expertise and develop, implement and support programs and tools that help ensure proactive compliance. You will engage and collaborate with regional EHS&PR leads in Asia, South America and Europe, Operations leaders from Ashland Specialty Ingredients and Operations and EHS professionals at the 27 facilities. You will report to Ashland's Environmental Group Senior Manager. A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Chemistry or a field related to the chemical industry is required along with 10+ years experience that includes a broad working knowledge in the areas of air, water, waste, remediation and sustainability and work experience at a chemical or manufacturing site. Working knowledge of federal and state environmental regulation and Previous experience interfacing with plant personnel, operations management and other corporate resources groups is a plus.
