Chemical Exposure Standards 'Dangerously out of Date,' OSHA Says
Chemical exposure standards set by the US Department of Labor are "dangerously out of date and do not protect workers," according to OSHA. Ninety-five percent of OSHA's current permissible exposure limits have not been updated since their adoption in 1971. To remedy this, OSHA has launched a national dialogue with stakeholders on ways to prevent work-related illness caused by exposure to hazardous substances. Read more...

They are seeking a Senior Director of Health, Safety and Environmental to oversee functions of Health, Safety and Environmental Department. The ideal candidate will provide strategic leadership and expertise to the Blessey Marine Services, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as the "Company") Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) initiatives and develop and deliver strategies in alignment with the Company's objectives as well as implementing policies, processes and standards. S/he will serve as a technical expert in HSE issues by providing leadership, guidance and direction in activities central to the Company's Quality Management System (QMS). Bachelor's Degree in Health, Safety and Environmental or 10 years of progressively responsible experiences in an applicable field is required. Background in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and policy and procedure development required. Knowledge of United States Coast Guard regulations pertaining to uninspected towing vessels and tank barges preferred. Familiarity with the Tanker Management Self Assessment (TMSA) and Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) programs preferred. Need TWIC, CSHP, CSP. Travel required. The selected individual will supervise 6 - 10 EHS specialists located at the various sites, and will report to the Central Hub EHS Manager. Your responsibilities will include providing leadership and direct support to coordinate and implement assigned EHS programs, projects and other compliance activities at multiple sites and supervising assigned EHS staff to meet EHS performance goals within area of responsibilities; participate in assessing staff performance and in fostering their professional development. Bachelor's degree required. Engineering, Science, Science- related degrees preferred. Must have at least 8 years of experience in implementation of EHS programs in a manufacturing environment, either as an EHS professional or in a manufacturing role with EHS responsibilities. Masters preferred. Chemical manufacturing experience preferred. Professional certification - Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, or Professional Engineer preferred.

Dairy Farmers of America, Inc. (DFA) is a national milk marketing cooperative in the United States. It is owned by and serves nearly 16,000 dairy farmer members representing more than 9,000 dairy farms in 48 states. DFA is looking for an Environmental Compliance Manager to provide direction and assistance to assure manufacturing sites have systems, knowledge, capabilities, and practices to comply with all environmental regulations including EPA Risk Management (RMP) regulations for ammonia facilities. The ideal candidate will work with company staff and regulatory agencies to identify and address areas of noncompliance. S/he will also be the corporate representative for the 10 manufacturing facilities that have greater than 10,000 lbs of ammonia on-site in refrigeration systems and provide assistance and guidance to manufacturing sites to enable them to perform effectively within the environmental compliance arena. Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree along with a minimum of 6 years of food plant and/or environmental experience in a related field and a minimum of 4 years work experience with RMP, PSM and environmental regulations is required.
