Pruitt is Ending EPA Policy Known As 'Sue And Settle'
The head of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency issued a directive to his agency seeking to end the practice of settling lawsuits with environmental groups behind closed doors, saying the groups have had too much influence on regulation. Pruitt, who sued the EPA more than a dozen times while employed as the attorney general of Oklahoma, has long railed against the practice. Read more

Our primary markets are in North and South America with expansion opportunities around the globe. They are looking for an EHS Director. ChemTreat’s Director of Environmental, Health and Safety will help us manage and reduce risk while demonstrating the same can-do, innovative thinking that permeates our culture. This leader will be responsible for all EHS KPIs and objectives related to current and potential customers. The successful candidate will be effective in front of the customer, assisting our distributed sales force, working with our suppliers and supporting our manufacturing sites. The Director of EHS will manage 2-5 subordinates who directly administer the EHS program and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of EHS personnel. Also indirectly supervises other EHS associates that report to local operations managers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Minimum requirements are a Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from an accredited college or university with ten years EHS experience, with 5 years’ supervisory experience, and 3 years as large site level EHS coordinator or leader. Experience managing Field Sales safety programs preferred. Master’s Degree in EHS discipline or MBA, and experience in Chemical or CPG manufacturing preferred.

Morton Salt is an American food company producing salt for food, water conditioning, industrial, agricultural, and road/highway use. Based in Chicago, the business is North America's leading producer and marketer of salt. It is a subsidiary of the German mining company K+S. They are looking for an EHS Manager. This position is responsible for applying full knowledge of Environmental practices and standards. This position provides organization wide coordination in all environmental program areas including air, water, and waste program management, as well as, assisting in compliance strategies for these programs. This position will also be one that may interface with local, state and federal agencies. Additionally coordination of organization wide environmental data management and processes, as well as, program development and implementation of sustainability programs may also be necessary. Responsibilities include assessing moderately complex environmental risks and opportunities and potential impacts on stakeholder (customer, community, interest groups, employees) priorities, or enterprise/ business/location strategy. Develops workable strategies to mitigate/eliminate compliance risks and provides recommendations to Director and/or business partners as required. S/he will also lead and/or assist in the development of programs and processes involving interpretation of environmental regulations, standards, and/or internal policies to execute the Environmental and Sustainability strategy. A Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Affairs or other Environmental related fields is required along with 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or an industrial related field and 5+ years environmental or other applicable regulatory affairs. Master’s Degree preferred. Experience with Environmental compliance, permitting, and auditing required. Experience with management systems and standards specifically ISO 14001 a plus.

Director, Environmental Management, Health & Safety (EHS)

The environmental health and safety (EHS) director assists the VP of Energy Efficiency, Sustainability and Public Policy, in consultation with leadership from Human Resources and Operational Excellence, in developing the company’s EHS goals and strategy and ensures that the health, safety, and environmental impact policies of the company are being successfully implemented. This is a managerial position largely carried out in an office environment, though the EHS Director shall regularly tour facilities to personally inspect operations and communicate with different departments. The scope of responsibility extends to management teams and employees in the US, Canada, Mexico, Central America and operations units Greater China. Beyond compliance, the EHS Director develops and implements programs and processes that support Legrand’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) priorities related to the environment, health and safety, and the achievement of related, multi-year goals. Minimum qualifications for an EHS director position are a bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety management or related field and at least ten years of on-the-job experience in implementing environmental, health and safety programs. The position requires strong managerial, communication, and analytical skills, as well as the ability to work in both a team and independently. The successful applicant will also have strong program management skills and experience, and will have demonstrated the ability to guide, educate and influence colleagues to adopt the necessary processes and behaviors that are hallmarks of a deep culture of environmental management, health and safety. The candidate must also be able to handle high-stress emergency situations. Relevant OSHA and ISO certifications are strongly preferred.
