Pruitt Bars Some Scientists From Advising E.P.A.
Scott Pruitt, the head of the Environmental Protection Agency, stripped a half-dozen scientists and academics of advisory positions and issued new rules barring anyone who receives E.P.A. grant money from serving on panels that counsel the agency on scientific decisions. The move will effectively bar a large number of academic researchers, many of them experts in fields ranging from toxicology to epidemiology, from advising the E.P.A. on scientific matters, since the agency is one of the largest funders of environmental research. The TSCA Inventory Notification (Active-Inactive) Rule
In 1978, the EPA, under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), called for the submission of lists of chemical substances manufactured or processed, used in commerce. The first comprehensive list of about 62,000 chemicals was published in 1979 and since that time, about 22,000 substances have been added to this list, called the TSCA Inventory. The company has approximately $2 billion in sales and 4,500 employees worldwide, and a material presence in more than 20 countries. They are looking for an EHS Manager. The person in this position will serve as the primary system administrator for Enablon (Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability Data Management System), supporting EHS&S (VP EHS&S, EHS&S Leadership Team), the three portfolio businesses and their respective business-level administrators, site-level EHS&S leadership, PSM, Quality (Customer Complaints), and IT Cyber Security. A B.S. degree is required, preferably in Environmental Science or Safety Management, Information Technology or related fields along with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing company as an EHS&S professional, and working with EHS&S Management Systems or Data Management Systems. Experience with system administration of EHS&S Data Management System a plus; Experience with Enablon platform preferred. Demonstrated training experience.

Environmental, Health & Safety Director

Our primary markets are in North and South America with expansion opportunities around the globe. They are looking for an EHS Director. ChemTreat's Director of Environmental, Health and Safety will help us manage and reduce risk while demonstrating the same can-do, innovative thinking that permeates our culture. This leader will be responsible for all EHS KPIs and objectives related to current and potential customers. The successful candidate will be effective in front of the customer, assisting our distributed sales force, working with our suppliers and supporting our manufacturing sites. The Director of EHS will manage 2-5 subordinates who directly administer the EHS program and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of EHS personnel. Also indirectly supervises other EHS associates that report to local operations managers. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Minimum requirements are a Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from an accredited college or university with ten years EHS experience, with 5 years' supervisory experience, and 3 years as large site level EHS coordinator or leader. Experience managing Field Sales safety programs preferred. Master's Degree in EHS discipline or MBA, and experience in Chemical or CPG manufacturing preferred.

Director, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)

They are seeking a qualified Director of Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH) for its West Region operations. This position reports directly to the President of the West Region with a functional accountability to the VP ESH for Lehigh Hanson. This position will be responsible for strategic development and leadership of the organization’s environmental, safety and health programs and initiatives for the West Region. The role will direct and coordinate ESH activities to ensure alignment with Lehigh Hanson and Heidelberg Cement ESH directives and programs and compliance with environmental, safety and health laws and regulations. The position will provide leadership and guidance to the Environmental Managers and Safety and Health Managers in strong and effective collaboration with operational leaders and the Lehigh Hanson Corporate ESH team. A Bachelor’s degree in safety management, safety engineering, industrial hygiene, occupational environment health and safety, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred. Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is required. Minimum of 10 years of industrial safety management and/or environmental management. Operational experience is preferred. Expertise in Federal (EPA), State and local environmental regulations and procedures.

Environmental, Health & Safety Director

Bluebird bio is leading the gene therapy revolution. They have nearly 15 years of scientific and clinical experience at the forefront of gene therapy, with deep expertise in rare diseases and immuno-oncology, a proven scientific and lentiviral-based manufacturing platform, and a complementary set of tools such as gene editing. They are looking for an EHS Director. The Environmental Health and Safety Director will have managerial oversight for all EH&S programs at multiple bluebird facilities, including manufacturing, laboratory, and offices. Based in our Cambridge office reporting to the Sr. Director, Facilities, this position has responsibility for overseeing the implementation of all Environmental, Health and Safety policies, procedures and programs that will assure our compliance with all relevant Regulatory Agencies worldwide. The ideal candidate initiates and procures all required Environmental, Health and Safety Permits, maintains OSHA 300 log, manages the Hazardous waste program, manages MWRA wastewater program and manages the Ergonomic Program. A minimum of 15+ years’ experience in the field of Environmental Health and Safety Management along with a BS in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry or related fields is preferred. Past experience with formalizing and conveying a Safety program a plus.
