KnowTheChain has released its second ranking of the top 40 global information and communications technology companies on their efforts and disclosure related to eradicating forced labor. The report urges companies to engage with workers, give them access to effective grievance mechanisms, and tackle the exploitation of migrant workers by implementing ethical recruitment practices and repaying workers for recruitment fees they may have paid.

FMC is an American chemical manufacturing company. They are looking for an EHS Manager. This position will be accountable for all health, safety, and environmental activities in North America, with a primary focus on improving the safety performance, and maintaining environmental regulatory requirements. The North America EHS Manager will be responsible for the development and implementation of all North America EHS programs and will provide leadership for incident investigations and process safety reviews. The ideal candidate will guide continuous improvement of the EHS function to drive outstanding EHS performance in our sites. The North America EHS Manager will work closely with the Plant and EHS Managers. The position will also have a strong relationship with North America Operations Director and the Manufacturing Leadership Team to organize and manage multiple processes and programs in FMC. The North America EHS Manager will provide direction to the North American Manufacturing organization and promote the improvement of EHS performance on the job and off the job. A Bachelor’s Degree in occupational safety, environmental health, engineering or the physical sciences is required. Experience with Process Safety Management and high hazard processes preferred. B.S. degree or higher in sciences, engineering, occupational safety, or industrial hygiene and/or a minimum of 10 years of experience in operations line management and/or EHS related assignments preferred. Familiar with process safety management systems, including MOC and other elements of the OSHA PSM standard. 20% travel.

Director Process Safety Management Audits
Merck & Co. Inc.; Kenilworth, New Jersey

Merck is an American pharmaceutical company and one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. They are looking for an EHS Director in their PSM division. Accountable for worldwide process safety management (PSM) audit, PSM field execution verification and program implementation support. This role will be a working manager role and includes managing staff (both US and ExUS) and budget to support on-going site PSM program reviews and program implementation. The ideal candidate will direct corporate process safety field execution professionals, influence regional GSE leadership, business leaders and site EHS professionals to drive prioritization of regulatory compliance, continuous performance improvement, and integration of process safety performance objectives into standard work processes. S/he will also develop strategies to achieve these goals in alignment with Global Safety and Environment and Merck business goals, standards and values. A B.S. chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or related engineering field or a BS in Chemistry is required along with 15 years of progressive EHS experience in pharmaceutical, biochemical, chemical, petrochemical or process related industry with direct responsibility for process safety program audit, field verification and program implementation support. Detailed working knowledge of process safety management compliance a must - including conduct of HAZOPs/PHAs, mechanical integrity (preventive maintenance, testing and inspection), operating procedures, emergency response, facility siting, management of change, process/equipment design, safety interlock strategies, contractor management, application of Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP), and As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP). PE/CSP preferred.

Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Division Director

Berkeley Labs is a United States national laboratory located in California that conducts scientific research on behalf of the United States Department of Energy. It is managed and operated by the University of California. They are looking for an EHS Director. This role serves as a key member of the Laboratory Operations Leadership Team and manages the EH&S Division. This critical role is responsible for providing leadership, information, technical assistance, policy development, and oversight that enables line management to maintain a safe workplace environment, promote safety as an institutional core value, and insure that Berkeley Lab’s scientific and technical research activities are conducted in compliance with applicable policies and regulations. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer/Deputy Lab Director (COO/DLD) for Berkeley Lab. The EH&S Division Director will be called upon to make substantial leadership recommendations and contributions toward achieving the Laboratory's performance goals, forge partnerships inside and outside of the Lab and to pursue best management practices, in support of Berkeley Lab’s scientific mission and lead, direct, and oversee all EH&S operations, including Waste Management, Radiation Protection, Environmental Services, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Safety, and Health Services functions to maintain a safe and healthy environment for Laboratory employees, guests and visitors in support of the scientific mission of the Laboratory. A Bachelor’s degree and experience in one or more related EH&S and/or technical discipline(s) and/or equivalent experience and education is required along with a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in EH&S discipline or related engineering fields, with a minimum of 5 years in a management role.
