The Associate Director, High Risk Work/Emergency Response will provide expert technical leadership and consulting to global operations with a focus on identifying safety related hazards, assessing risks and assisting sites in implementing compliant technical solutions for high-risk work (HRW) (open flame/hot work, confined space, hazardous energy control, line breaking, machinery safety, electrical safety, work at heights, trenching and excavation). The ideal candidate will provide expert technical leadership and consulting to global operations with a focus on identifying fire/life safety and emergency response risks and assisting sites in implementing compliant technical solutions for fire/life safety and emergency response. S/he will provide support to HRW, fire/life safety and emergency response functional improvement activities (e.g. training, tools, work processes, auditing, metrics, internal programs and standards) and provide program leadership and technical support to capital projects, existing and R&D operations, incident investigations and support related trade group and advocacy activities. This position will require a significant amount of travel (domestic and international), estimated to be about 40%. Minimum of a B.S. degree in industrial safety, fire protection, loss prevention, chemical engineering or a related field is required along with a minimum of 10 years of professional work experience that includes at least 7 years of progressive EHS experience in pharmaceutical, biochemical, chemical, petrochemical or process related industry with direct responsibility for HRW, fire safety and emergency response program development and management. Certification or registration as a Professional Engineer, Certified Safety Professional or Certified Fire Protection Specialist preferred.
