EPA Proposes First Standards To Make Drinking Water Safer From ‘forever Chemicals’
The US Environmental Protection Agency on Tuesday proposed the first national drinking water standard for “forever chemicals” that are dangerous to human health. The move could radically affect drinking water for nearly everyone in the United States. The new rule intends to set drinking water standards for six per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, also known as PFAS or “forever chemicals.” PFAS are a family of ubiquitous synthetic chemicals that linger in the environment and the human body, where they can cause serious health problems.

Global Water Crisis Could ‘spiral Out Of Control’ Due To Overconsumption And Climate Change, UN Report Warns
The world is facing a looming global water crisis that threatens to “spiral out of control” as increased demand for water and the intensifying impacts of the climate crisis put huge pressure on water resources, a UN report has warned. Water use has increased by about 1% a year over the last 40 years, driven by population growth and changing consumption patters, according to the UN World Water Development Report published Tuesday, on the eve of a major UN water summit in New York.

Programs on Miner Health, Safety Issues to be Focus of New Research Facility in West Virginia
The CDC recently acquired more than 400 acres of land in West Virginia. With newly acquired land, the CDC announced that it will build a research facility in West Virginia. The focus of the facility? Programs on the health and safety issues of miners. According to a news release, the CDC and the General Services Administration acquired a total of 465 acres in Mace, West Virginia, roughly 140 miles east of the state’s capital, to construct an underground mine safety research facility.
